SafeMoon CEO Convicted of Fraud and Money Laundering
A federal jury in Brooklyn has delivered a guilty verdict against Braden John Karony, the former CEO of SafeMoon, on charges of conspiracy to commit securities fraud, wire fraud, and money laundering. The verdict caps a 12-day trial and an 18-month investigation into one of the most notorious crypto fraud cases in recent years.
Prosecutors proved that Karony and his team misled investors by falsely asserting SafeMoon’s liquidity pool was inaccessible, while secretly siphoning millions to finance personal luxuries. Court evidence showed Karony splurged on high-end vehicles like an Audi R8 and Tesla, along with real estate investments in Utah.
